The Saints were unable to put pressure on Ryan Fitzpatrick and he made them pay with a ridiculous 21/28, 417 yards, 4 TDs, 0 int, performance. That's now a thing of the past.
The Eagles D-line and linebackers (Jordan Hicks 1.5 sacks last week, and Bradham is back!) will need to be in Fitzpatrick's face all day long.
Mike Evans, Desean Jackson, Chris Godwin, and O.J Howard are a cabinet full of weapons. A healthy pass rush will make life a lot easier on the secondary, and force Fitzpatrick into making bad decisions.
2. Familiar faces
Desean Jackson, Vinny Curry, Beau Allen, and even Chris Godwin (played at Middletown High School in Delaware) have had this game circled since the schedule came out.
We all know how well Desean plays against the Eagles (3 catches,102 yards, and a TD the last time he played against the Birds) and now he has cleared concussion protocol.
What role, if any, will these guys have on this game?
3. A receiver needs to step up
The Bucs top two corners, Vernon Hargreaves and Brent Grimes are both out. The Eagles receivers are also beat up, but this is a very exploitable matchup and one they need to take advantage of.
I'd expect the Birds leading wide receiver to have much more than 33 yards this week.
Game Predictions :
Brian (Glock) McLaughlin (0-1)
The Bucs were impressive last week, but I can't see Ryan Fitzpatrick having an encore performance. The Eagles d-line should be in his face all afternoon, which will lead to a few turnovers.
I expect Nick Foles and the Eagles offense to be MUCH more efficient than last week.
Zach Ertz will be heavily involved, and Nelson Agholor should have a field day.
I said it on the podcast and I'm not backing down... the Eagles will win this game... and cover.
Eagles 27, Bucs 20
Jordan (Don) Bruni (1-0)
This game is very sketchy. These Tampa Bay wideouts are very talented.
Do I think Fitzpatrick is going to have a field day?
The Eagles defense will make him look like....well, Ryan Fitzpatrick. Pressure will remind Ryan why he’s not an official starter, Eagles defensive line will be all over. I still think Evans and Jackson pose a threat, but Evans will be double teamed with the Eagles able to shut down the run game. Foles plays as he typically does in Tampa....he wins.
Eagles 24, Bucs 16
Rob McLaughlin (0-1)
The Eagles D is the real deal. We are traveling down to TB to take on a back up QB. It will be ugly, but the Eagles start 2-0. Wentz is back for week 3!!
Eagles 20, Bucs 17
Shane Dunfee (0-1)
Fitzmagic's Harvard education may have helped him outsmart the Saints D, but I expect Fletcher Cox & company to wipe their ass with his diploma this Sunday & I’m planning to see BDN slingin' the rock up and down the field. The Birds shut it down earl, bring your popcorn
Eagles 38, Bucs 17
Matt Hudson (1-0)
It feels good to be 1-0 in Eagles predictions. If you listened to the podcast, SPOILER ALERT, Eagles need to go undefeated so I can go undefeated in predictions. Ryan Fitzpatrick comes back to life this week and the Eagles defense torment him. Ajayi will carry the load and Foles will play better then last week. This game is history and the Eagles will be 2-0.
