The Eagles have made two selections here in the 4th round, let's take a look at who they are...
Pick 125: Avonte Maddox, CB, Pitt
Stats: 8 career interceptions, including 2 last season. One stat that sticks out is 4 sacks in 2017, which means to me that he isn't afraid to make a tackle.
His speed is what must have drawn the Eagles to Maddox..
He's undersized at 5'9, but it's possible that the Eagles can mold him into a slot corner going forward. With so many young corners already on the roster, Maddox will have to make a living on special teams in 2018. Keep in mind that Ronald Darby is a free agent after this season.
Also keep in mind that we said "who?" when the Eagles drafted Mack Hollins in round 4 last year, so let's wait and see with Maddox.
130: Josh Sweat, Edge, Florida State
Stats: 14.5 career sacks, including 5.5 in his junior season at FSU.
Sweat is 6'5, 250, and ran a 4.53 at the combine. He is athletic and can flat out get after the passer.
Sweat was projected to go as high as round 2 but falls into the Eagles lap at 130 due to injury concerns.
Sweat is a STEAL!!
With Brandon Graham, Michael Bennett, and Chris Long all in their 30's and no lock to return in 2019, Sweat gives the Eagles a young pass rusher to groom along with Derek Barnett.
The only concern with Sweat is his knee. But if his that holds up, he and Barnett could form a formidable duo for years to come. At worst Sweat will be an impact situational pass rusher.
