The Eagles have signed Mike Wallace as Torrey Smith's replacement.
We mentioned Mike Wallace on Monday as a possible Smith replacement.
Wallace had a nice run in Baltimore. This past season he caught 52 balls for 748 yards and 4 tds, and in 2016 he had 72 receptions for 1,017 yards and 4 tds.
While I am not the biggest Mike Wallace fan, he is an upgrade over Torrey Smith, and a far better option than Jeremy Maclin or any of the other remaining free agents. Torrey Smith only had 36 catches for 430 yards and 2 touchdowns last season, numbers that Wallace should have no problem surpassing if given the same opportunity.
At 31 (going on 32) Wallace isn't the burner he once was, but can still get down the field, as he averaged 14.9 YPC last season.
He fills a major need, and will allow Mack Hollins to continue to grow without any added pressure. He also provides veteran insurance should Alshon Jeffery have any setbacks while recovering from shoulder surgery.
All-in-all this is a pretty good signing for the World Champs.
