As we inch closer and closer to the NBA playoffs we will be taking a look each week at where to Sixers sit currently and their closest competitors. Let’s start with the standings.
The Sixers are now just as close to the 3rd seed as they are to the 7th. Wild. So what’s on deck for Philadelphia this week.
These HAVE to be 3 wins for Philadelphia. The schedule doesn’t get much easier than this. With 14 games remaining on the calendar, these three wins would be critical in Philly’s attempt to host a round in the playoffs.
Now let’s look at some of their opponents. We’ll skip the Bucks because I think the Sixers don’t need to worry about them.
Nowhere near as easy as the Sixers next 3 games. Pacers are also loser of two straight, I see them dropping the road game possibly the Friday match-up with LAC as well. For this exercise let’s say they drop 2 of 3.
This is their first match up with the Spurs all year. San Antonio has won 3 straight and I give them the advantage at home over Washington. The Friday game vs Denver could easily be a loss as well but for the this we’ll say they split 1-1.
3 straight at home, last one coming against a sad Suns squad. They will easily win on Friday but the first two will not be easy. Lue just “stepped down” this morning and the Cavs are as inconsistent as any team in the league.
Toronto should come into Cleveland and get a win. As for the Bucks, that game is going to be a coin toss but I’ll give the advantage to the Cavs. They go 2-1 this week.
That is why taking advantage of the bottom rung teams this week is a must do. Control what you can control and the rest will shake out on its own. That starts tonight with a game against a team they've had a ton of success over recently.
We maybe going into the week as a first round playoff hosting team. Here they come!
