The NFL off-season officially kicks off March 14th, but it is clearly well under way.
We have already seen multiple confirmed trades, and the league year doesn't start for another 6 days!
Alex Smith traded to Washington..
Marcus Peters traded to the Rams..
Alec Ogletree traded to the Giants..
And yesterday the Eagles jumped into the mix by acquiring Michael Bennett from Seattle.
The NFL is a copycat league, so are other teams following the the blueprint set by Howie Roseman?
Player for player trades are becoming much more common across the league thanks to Roseman. We can expect even more trades in the coming weeks leading up to and during the draft.
Free agency officially starts next Wednesday, but teams can legally start negotiating with players on Monday, March 12th.
Teams are are still in the process of cutting players, so we are going to keep an open thread of the top 10 free agents by position, and update the list when a new name is added, or a player signs.
The Eagles aren’t going to be MAJOR players on the free agent market, but could look to add some depth. The “sleepers” mentioned are cheaper options that may interest the Birds.
We will see if they can re-sign Nigel Bradham or Patrick Robinson, but it will be tough.

Top 10 unrestricted free agents by position
Kirk Cousins- Washington
Case Keenum - Vikings
Sam Bradford - Vikings
AJ McCarron - Bengals
Teddy Bridgewater - Vikings
Josh McCown - Jets
Ryan Fitzpatrick - Buccaneers
Geno Smith - Giants
Tom Savage - Texans
Matt Moore - Dolphins
(Drew Brees... technically)
Thoughts: For the first time in a long time there is a solid group of quarterbacks available on the free agent market. Cousins should sign fairly quickly as Minnesota looks to be the leader at the moment, and that is where I think he will ultimately land. Keenum could end up in Denver, leaving Arizona and Buffalo still looking for a starting quarterback. Foles would at least be the second name on this list, if not the first. Drew Brees would obviously be # 1 if he were truly testing the market, but he’s not.
Sleeper: Chase Daniel - signed w/Bears
I know this is ridiculous, but if Foles is moved, Chase Daniel could be an option for the Eagles. If the Eagles like Sudfeld as much as they say, then they would be in the market for a third QB. Daniel fits that bill.
If they were looking for a backup, Ryan Fitzpatrick would be a name that could work.
Carlos Hyde - 49ers
Dion Lewis- Patriots
Isaiah Crowell - Browns
*DeMarco Murray - Titans
Jerrick McKinnon - Vikings
LeGarrette Blount - Eagles
Doug Martin - Buccaneers
Jeremy Hill - Bengals
Jonathon Stewart - Panthers
Rex Burkhead - Patriots
Thoughts: This is a solid group of running backs. It will be interesting to see what kind of market there is for Dion Lewis. Carlos Hyde should re sign with the 49ers, but anything is possible. Crowell is only 25 years old and is talented. The draft is also loaded with running backs, so it could be a while before these guys sign. For example, LeGarrette Blount signed after the draft last off-season.
Sleeper: LeGarrette Blount/Darren Sproles
The Eagles aren't going to sign a free agent running back, so all eyes will be on their own free agents.
Allen Robinson - Jaguars
Sammy Watkins - Rams
Paul Richardson - Seahawks
*Michael Crabtree- Raiders
Donte Moncrief - Colts
Marqise Lee - Jaguars
*Jordy Nelson- Packers
Jordan Matthews - Bills
Danny Amendola - Patriots
Terelle Pryor - Washington
Taylor Gabriel - Falcons
Eric Decker - Titans
(Jarvis Landry is available via trade) - Traded to the Browns.
Thoughts: Allen Robinson should get paid on the open market despite coming off of a torn ACL. The 49ers could be the team that lands Robinson, but look out for the Bears as well. Watkins wasn't tagged by the Rams, but it's likely that the returns to LA. Richardson and Moncrief are speedy receivers that in the right situation could flourish. Jordan Matthews will not be getting paid the kind of money that he thought he would this time last year.
Sleeper: John Brown - Signed w/Ravens
Brown has had severe injury history, but is still only 27, and can fly. The Eagles need a burner and Brown would seemingly come cheap. He is a name to keep an eye on if the Eagles decide to move on from Torrey Smith.
Trey Burton - Eagles
Jimmy Graham - Seahawks
Tyler Eifert - Bengals
Austin Seferian-Jenkins - Jets
*Eric Ebron - Lions
Martellus Bennett - Patriots
Ed Dickson - Panthers
Virgil Green - Broncos
Antonio Gates - Chargers
Benjamin Watson - Ravens
Luke Wilson - Seahawks
Thoughts: Trey Burton is going to get paid. The Bears have known interest and I'm sure they aren't the only team. The rest of the group is either injury prone, aging, or both.
Sleeper: Benjamin Watson - signed w/Saints
I don't think the Eagles will sign a tight end, at least until after the draft. Brent Celek's roster spot is still up in the air and if the Eagles want to add a veteran down the road, Watson could be that guy.
Andrew Norwell (G) - Panthers
Nate Solder (LT) - Patriots
Justin Pugh (G/T) - Giants
Josh Kline (G)- Titans
*Mike Pouncey (C) - Dolphins
Weston Richburg- (C/G) Giants
Josh Sitton (G) - Bears
Cameron Fleming (G/T) - Patriots
Andre Smith (T) -Bengals
Jack Mewhort (G) - Colts
Thoughts: Andrew Norwell and Nate Solder are solid and should sign quickly. Norwell is apparently the top priority for the Giants. Their new GM David Gettleman drafted Norwell in Carolina. The Giants are also looking to re-sign Justin Pugh. This isn't a great group by an means. I am glad that the Eagles have their offensive line in order and aren't attempting to overhaul it in free agency.
Sleeper: Crockett Gillmore
Gillmore is a former tight end, but is changing his position to tackle. Joe Douglas scouted and drafted him in Baltimore, and could see him as a high upside depth option.
*Ndamukong Suh- Dolphins
Sheldon Richardson - Seahwaks
Muhammad Wilkerson - Jets
Adrian Clayborn - Falcons
Dontari Poe - Falcons
Vinny Curry- Eagles
Trent Murphy - Washington
DaQuan Jones- Titans
Kony Ealy- Jets
Dominique Easley - Rams
Beau Allen - Eagles
Thoughts: Not a lot of difference makers on this current list, especially since Demarcus Lawrence was tagged, but that could change. Ndamukong Suh, and possibly Vinny Curry could be added to this list any minute. I was a tad biased by throwing Beau Allen on the list. There is a decent amount of run stuffing d tackles on the open market
Sleeper: Bennie Logan/Haloti Ngata
Should Beau Allen leave, the Eagles need a backup/run stuffing d tackle. They may look to the draft, but there a few names that may have the Eagles interest. Logan could come back on a very cheap deal after an injury riddled season in KC. Ngata is another ex Raven drafted by Joe Douglas. He would cost next to nothing and be another veteran presence in the locker room for a team looking to win back-to-back Super Bowls.
Nigel Bradham - Eagles
Antony Hitchens - Cowboys
Signed W/ KC
Navorro Bowman - Raiders
Thair Whitehead - Lions
Avery Williamson - Titans
Preston Brown- Bills
Jerell Freeman - Bears
Pernell McPhee - Bears
Paul Posluszny - Jaguars
Connor Barwin - Rams
Thoughts: Nigel Bradham is far and away the best option at linebacker, which will make it very difficult for the Eagles to re-sign him. Dallas wants Anthony Hitchens back, but could a team throw some decent money his way? The Colts are known to have interest in Hitchens. He would be a big loss for Jerry Jones.
Sleeper: Thair Whitehead - signed w/Raiders
Whitehead was drafted by Schwartz in 2012 and could come as a cheap fallback option if they lose Nigel Bradham. Whitehead also played his college ball at Temple. Jerell Freeman is also a name to watch.
Malcolm Butler (CB) - Patriots
*Richard Sherman (CB) Seahawks
Trumaine Johnson (CB) - Rams Signed w/Jets
E.J. Gaines (CB) - Bills
Morgan Burnett (S) - Packers
Patrick Robinson (CB) - Eagles
Rashaan Melvin (CB) - Colts
Kenny Vaccaro (S) - Saints
Prince Amukamara (CB) - Bears
*Tyrann Mathieu(S) - Cardinals
Eric Reid (S) - 49ers
Thoughts: Overall this is a pretty good group that could get even better in the coming days with the addition of Richard Sherman and possibly Aqib Talib. The Eagles want Patrick Robinson back, but he is one of the better names available and could cash in after a career year. It will be interesting to see where Malcolm Butler will end up after sitting the pine in Super Bowl 52.
Sleeper: Nickell Robey-Coleman
Re-signed with Rams
He played under Schwartz in Buffalo and was mentioned as a possible name for the Eagles last off-season. The slot corner had a solid year for the Rams in 2017. He would be a cheap fall back option if they were unable to sign Patrick Robinson. Another sleeper is their own free agent safety, Corey Graham.
As of right now this isn’t the greatest free agent class, but more names could be added at any minute. The skill positions really stand out and should make the first day or so quite interesting.
The trade market never sleeps and with such limited talent on the open market, teams could/should continue to move salary and acquire talent via trades.
As we mentioned, this will be an open thread, so when more cuts are made or players sign, this list will be updated!
So keep checking back anytime to see which players remain available and which have signed with other teams.
