If you only watched the first half of the Sixers last game vs the Bucks you probably assumed that cruised to an easy win. You’d be wrong. After scoring a staggering 72 first half points, Philadelphia went on to only post 38 in the third and fourth quarters.
Even though there are still 20 games left in the regular season, this loss gives the Bucks a 2-1 advantage in the season series. Currently Milwaukee holds the tie breaker over the Sixers. With these teams only separated by 1 game, the match on the final day of the season becomes even more important.
What hurt Philadelphia in this game? What else, turnovers. 26 of them to be exact, that is 9 more than their league “leading” average of 17 per game. They are finding ways to win despite turning the ball over at an alarming rate.
One of the main reasons is that they limit opponent’s second chance opportunities by cleaning up in rebounds. Philly is tops in the league with 35.7 defensive rebounds a game. Philadelphia needs a bounce back tonight vs Charlotte. The Hornets are losers of 3 straight and are not playing good basketball at all. They are giving up 115.6 points a game over their last three.
Philadelphia should easily put up at least that much tonight on the road.
One reason tonight is so important is because Philly will see Charlotte two more times after tonight. They need to play confident going into each of those meetings. The other reason they need a win is because they have a tough test on the road on Thursday when they visit the Heat.
With how tight the Eastern Conference standings are right now, two wins or two losses could move them anywhere from 4th seed to 8th seed.
By now everyone has heard that LeBron’s people may or may not have visited PA to scout schools for his son. I’m a little dubious on these rumors as this fan base is known to get excited easily about this team and possible prospects. I will say this though, I’m no insider but I do have a few connections with one of the schools that LeBron has been linked to and I am hoping to hear some news as early as today.
The Sixers stroll into Charlotte as 1.5 point favorites.
This Hornets team is much better at home than on the road. 18-15 at Spectrum Center and 10-21 away.
None of that is going to matter. Philly is the better team and I LOVE them to cover tonight.
Tonight is about a playoff team going up against a lottery team and having to take care of business. They don’t have to play their best ball to win, they just need to take care of business. With 20 games left these types of match ups become must wins.
