That is the number of days that have passed since the last time your Philadelphia 76ers have played in an NBA playoff game. The drought is almost over. According to Basketball Reference the Sixers are a virtual lock for the 2018 playoffs.
I couldn’t agree more. Philadelphia played one of the league’s toughest first half schedules and came out 5 games over .500. Now as we begin the unofficial second half of the 2018 campaign, the Sixers will be greeted with the easiest remaining schedule in the NBA.
Their remaining opponents have a combined .437 win percentage and out of the remaining 27 games only 7 are against a team with a better win percentage than the Sixers currently. They also have exactly ZERO remaining games vs 5 of the top 6 teams in the league.
With their cupcake schedule I don’t see how they don’t go AT LEAST, 15-12 in their final 27. That would have them finishing at 45-37 and most likely they would go into the playoffs as the 5th seed.
They are winning 47 and taking the 4th seed! This team is healthy (knock on wood), they are playing confident basketball and their schedule is mind blowingly easy. If they can get through a tough schedule 5 games over .500, they can get through an easy portion 7 games over .500.
I was shaky on Brett Brown in the first half of the season but just like this team he seems to be hitting his stride as well. I see a mini Doug Pederson in Brown, getting his team to play for him and believe in themselves. No matter what seed they are, this team will be feared as a tough out.
The playoff push starts tonight in Chicago as Philly opens as a 6.5 point favorite against the Bulls. The extended time off has me a little bit worried but if the Sixers come out tonight and play well, which I think they will, all those worries go away.
Let’s keep Philly’s winning streak a live! It’s a new day, it’s a new norm in this town.
