It wasn't pretty but the Eagles got the job done and cliched a first round bye in the process.
QB: Debut of the Foles Files tomorrow at 11am
They ran tough and made some plays down the stretch, specifically Jay Ajayi with a 32 yard catch and run.
I wish Pederson would just commit to Ajayi as the feature back.
A great performance from this group. They made things a lot easier on Nick Foles. Agholor, Ertz, and Jeffery each stepped up and made some big plays.
O line: B
For being as undermanned as they were, they did a very nice job. They weren't perfect but this was a much better performance than anyone could have expected.
D line: C-
Not nearly enough pressure today on Eli Manning. Granted Eli was getting rid of the ball very quickly, but as a group they need to be more consistent.
Brandon Graham stepped up yet again. With 13 minutes left in the game and the Giants on the Eagles 44 yard line, Graham drove Shane Vereen back for a loss of 9 on a 2nd and 1.
This led to a blocked field goal by Malcolm Jenkins
Bradham and Kendricks led the Eagles with 8 tackles a piece. They were all over the field for the most part. Bradham did have a costly unnecessary roughness penalty at the end of the first half that led to a Giants field goal.
This was a piss poor performance from the secondary. Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby were beaten early and often. Darby did have a key interception, but was otherwise picked on all game. You can’t let that group of recivers beat you like they did. This is a major concern going forward.
Special teams: A
A blocked extra point, blocked punt, and blocked field goal. The coaches must have been in their asses this week. They stepped up their game and were a major reason (if not the reason) why the Eagles walked about a winner. Bryan Braman- welcome back!
Their grade would be an A+ if it weren’t for the costly offsides penalty.
The Coaches: C-
The Defensive game plan was terrible. The Giants set up a blue print for how to beat the Eagles defense. This was exactly what the Giants did in the second half of the week 3 matchup.
Pederson was ok, but the running back situation has me perplexed.
His first half challenge was BRUTAL. Who is telling this guy to challenge these plays?!?!
However, Doug clearly had an effective game plan. The offense didn't miss a beat.
I thought the defense would step up and make a statement, that clearly wasn't the case.
They certainly didn't look like a championship defense today. I am VERY concerned about the secondary going forward.
Hats off to Eli Manning who made a statement of his own, letting the Giants and 31 other teams know that he still has plenty of gas in the tank.
At the end of the day, the Eagles were able to walk out of MetLife with a win.
The offense looked much better than expected and the special teams were able to make some big plays to lift the Eagles to a divisional road win.
This isn't going to be a game that goes down in Eagles history, but they are 12-2 and have secured a first round bye.
One more win and they will have home field throughout the playoffs.
Enjoy this win Eagles fans, 12-2 is something to be proud of!
