I am not here to elaborate on the injury or what this means for the future of the franchise.
I am not here to tell you it will be ok, but at the same time I am not here to sulk.
This absolutely blows, but it is time to move forward and focus on the NOW.
Let’s answer the question that everyone cares about.
Can the Eagles win it all with Nick Foles?
I say Yes.
It is going to be a hell of a lot harder to do it without our MVP QB, but I need to remind you all (and myself) of a few things.
1. Home field advantage
The Eagles are 11-2.
11 and MF-ing 2!!!
They are tied for the best record in the NFL.
I have been saying for the past two weeks how important home field is for the Eagles.
Even with this disastrous injury they still have an excellent shot for a first round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. They are an 8 point favorite Sunday in New York, and should also be a heavy favorite at home on Christmas.
If you thought fans were loud in LA, imagine how loud they will be during the first playoff at the link since January 4th, 2014.
Good luck beating the Eagles in that atmosphere.
2. There is a reason Nick Foles is getting paid 11 million.
He is here for this very reason, and now is the time to shine for Nick Foles.
Let me remind you that this man did throw 27 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in 2013.
He has 56 touchdowns and 27 interceptions on his career, not a terrible ratio.
Foles is a veteran QB and a decent back up. He needs to manage the game and protect the ball. If he does that, we can win.
3. The NFC is not that good.
Yes, there are a lot of big names at QB in the NFC.
Wilson, Newton, Brees, Ryan.... Rodgers?
I would obviously take all of them over Foles.
However, the Eagles are the most complete team in the conference. I would take the Eagles roster right now over any other roster in the NFC.
Give home field advantage to the most complete team and please tell me why the Eagles cannot win?
4. Our defense.
I know the defense looked bad Sunday, but the front 7 still managed to cause plenty of problems for the Rams.
Fletcher cox is one of the best in the league and the others (Graham, Long, Barnett) compliment nicely.
Malcolm Jenkins is a veteran leader and will rally this defense to #winforwentz.
There has been something special about this team all year, specifically the defense.
Losing Wentz has no negative affects on this defense, in fact it may make them even stronger.
5. Jay Ajayi/the run game.
The Eagles have the leagues second ranked rushing attack. Run the ball 40 times a game if you have to!
There was a reason that Howie Roseman went out of his way and traded for Ajayi. Now is the time to unleash the beast.
Our Eagles are NFC East Champions!Let's enjoy that for a second.
Let’s also continue to believe in this team because so far they have not let us down.
I’m am not here to tell you that the Eagles are going to the Super Bowl, but at the same time I refuse to throw the towel in on this season.
Let’s go to Minnesota. Let’s raise that trophy. Fly Eagles Fly!!!
