They have clinched their first playoff berth since December 29th, 2013.
It may not feel like it at the moment, but this is a huge accomplishment considering just one year ago they were a 5-8 team and just lost their third game in a row.
Now let’s get into the game.
3 things we watched:
A brutal failure.
Stefen Wisniewski went out with an injury? After that it was a circus at the LG position. Warmack was bad, and Seumalo wasn’t much better.
Vaitai struggled again as well.
Wentz was only sacked “once” but was under duress all game long.
Generate a pass rush.
Chris Long made the play of the game with a stip sack with 8:26 left in the game.
Despite only sacking Goff twice, the Eagles definitely created a pass rush throughout the game.
This is exactly why we mentioned Gurley all week long.
Gurley averaged 7.4 yards-per-carry and was a thorn in the Eagles side all evening.
They did manage to control him as a receiver, but he was incredible for the Rams on the ground, making the play action pass a weapon for Goff.
QB: Prayers- Wentz Report tomorrow 11 am
How great was Nick Foles? Say what you want about him, he stepped in and led the Eagles to victory.
They should have been used more. Ajayi led the backfield with 15 carries and produced well gaining 78 yards. This should have been a day where the running backs, especially Ajayi, were used heavily.
28 carries for 114 yards is a great effort, it isn’t their fault that they weren’t used more and in better situations.
This group was awesome. Torrey Smith over 100 yards, Jeffery with some fantastic plays, Burton was great, Agholor, minus the drop, was good enough.
O line: D
Not a good game from the offensive line.
Penalties and missed assignments added up. The merry-go-round at LG is not good.
D line: B-
As a whole they were good again today. Fletcher Cox and Chris long stood out. Vinny Curry and Jernigan were not great.
Curry has been undisciplined as of late, he will be on a new team in 2018/2019.
Nigel Bradham was all over the field. For his effort alone this group gets a B.
It wasn’t a great day for the secondary. Cooper Kupp looked like Jerry Rice.
Special Teams: F+
Horrendous. No adjustments made throughout the game, although Elliott looked good today- that’s why it’s an F+.
The Coach: D
I hated the game plan. Defensively and offensively- both were brutal.
Granted the Eagles did win this game, but 51 passes? Against the number 27 ranked rush defense? With a left side of the offensive line that looked like that?
They were outcoached on every level of the game.
The only reason I can’t fail them is because they won the game. But this was one of the worst games of the season for Pederson and his staff.
The Eagles won. However we know that the injury to Carson Wentz is the story here.
Here’s everything that we have…..
We will see what tomorrow brings.
Wentz was having one of the best games of his career and broke the franchise record for touchdown passes in a single season.
Prayers are with Carson Wentz.
Doug Pederson has to sure some things up. The offensive line, even with a healthy Wentz, looks lost.
For this team to have any chance going forward both Pederson and Schwartz need to be better. The offense needs to get back to running the football, and the defense has to get back to playing like they were in November.
Can this team still make a run? I don’t know, but let’s not jump off of a bridge yet.
