Here are the OFFICIAL power rankings heading into week 14!
1.PATRIOTS: It was only a matter of time before the world champs got to the number 1 spot. 8 wins in a row for Belichick, and they show no signs of slowing down. The dynasty continues to dominate. Oh, and they have the MVP in Tom Brady.
2.STEELERS: 7 in a row and tied for the best record in football. I say it every week but they have the best offensive duo in the league hands down. The Steelers are poised for a matchup against New England in the AFC Championship en route to Minnesota. And I believe they can win.
3.VIKINGS: Winning streaks help you to rise in the rankings, and after Sunday that’s 8 in a row. The Vikings went into Atlanta, who were red hot, and beat them up. The Vikings are a problem defensively. The biggest mistake the rest of the NFC can make is allowing the Vikings to get home field advantage. SKOL.
4.EAGLES: Although they dropped 3 slots, the Eagles are still tied with the above 3 teams for best record in the NFL. The game(loss) against Seattle was ugly, and the team showed signs of mediocracy many a times. The coaching was poor on both sides of the ball. The QB looked rattled and the offense looked stale. That being said, the Eagles are still one of the teams to beat in the NFL. They have a huge opportunity to bounce back against LA this week.
5.RAMS: It is the same story every week for this Rams team. Defense plays well. Goff plays well. Young coach, and young players, both of whom are talented. The Rams have their first winning season since 2003 and show no signs of slowing down.
6.SAINTS: Adrian Peterson who? Kamara/Ingram continue to dominate and make things easy for their veteran QB. I am sure Brees is thrilled they are on his side. When it comes to crunch time and the playoff race heats up, you must win tough divisional games. The Saints made it look easy against a tough Carolina team.
7. SEAHAWKS: Seattle finally gets the big win they were looking for. Even with a depleted defense they found a way to contain the league’s highest scoring offense to 10 points. How does anyone stop this team when Russell Wilson runs 5-15 yards backwards on every play and it results in positive gains? You can never count this team out because of their QB/coach tandem.
8. PANTHERS: Carolina is trending down after a 10 point loss in a huge divisional game. Can Cam Newton bounce back against one of the best defenses in the league this week? Huge match-up against Minnesota and an opportunity to make a statement.
9.TITANS: This team bores me with the exception of Derrick Henry. I do not think anyone in the entire NFL is afraid of the Tennessee Titans, and I am not certain they can even hang on to this division, but right now they are 8-4 and atop their division. Their record is the only reason the Titans are on this list. When you get to play Houston, Indy, and Jacksonville 2 times in a season, 8 wins doesn’t seem too difficult.
10.CHARGERS: San Diego, Super Chargers!! Wait, they moved to LA. Someone tell the fans in LA this so Rivers can have some people cheer him on when he wins the AFC West. 3 in a row and tied for the division lead. It is going to be a fun finish.
11.FALCONS: Head coach Dan Quinn doing what Dan Quinn does best, losing games he should win. I am not saying Minnesota isn’t a tough opponent, they are. But this division (and wildcard) race is coming down to the wire and you must defend your home turf. Their star running back Devonta Freeman returns and on paper I saw a Falcons victory. Instead an abysmal offensive performance with a whopping 9 points. Get it together Atlanta, quickly.
12.RAVENS: 3 wins in a row has secured the Ravens the final wildcard spot if the season ended today. Eat those W’s Joe Flacco, eat up!
On the bubble:
RAIDERS: The Raiders, who I wrote off when Kansas City was 5-0, are tied with the Chiefs and the Chargers. All 3 teams have the talent to win the West, and the finish is going to be a fun one. Can Carr, Beast Mode, and Cooper deliver a division championship to the fans of Oakland? Stay tuned.
JAGUARS: If defense wins Championships, the Jaguars might win it all. The Jags lead the league in opponents scoring holding teams to 14.8 points per game. Can Doug Marrone lead the Jaguars to the playoffs for the first time in 10 years? I’m selling my stock in that.
CHIEFS: Dare I even list this team as a bubble team? Yes, I do. The Chiefs lost 4 in a row and are still tied for first in their division. Not many teams can lose 4 in a row and still be in first place. Fortunately, for Andy, the Chiefs hot start has their playoff hopes alive.
Can someone just finish them off?
PACKERS: How are the Packers still in contention? They are 6-6 and play Cleveland next week. Then guess what? Aaron Rodgers is back. The entire league is on notice.
COWBOYS: They also sit at 6-6 and have an opportunity to somehow make the playoffs. If this team is in contention when Zeke returns it will be scary.
