Well, Monday didn’t go as we all hoped. Here’s a recap of the game in case you missed it:
That’s pretty much all you need to know.
LeBron showed why the Sixers aren’t yet ready to compete with the best of the NBA on a consistent basis. As Ben would say #OTTNO
Wizards and Sixers square off tonight for their second of four match-ups this season. Washington took act one, 120-115 in a game Philly should have won in all honesty.
Jerryd Bayless (woof) had two very costly turnovers in the first meeting that ended up being too much for the team to overcome.
Currently Washington and Philadelphia have 11 wins a piece and the Sixers find themselves two spots higher in the Eastern Conference standings with one less loss on the season.
Tonight they look for revenge as they attempt to even the season series but they may have to do so without Joel Embiid and/or Ben Simmons. Ben Simmons left Monday night’s game after tweaking his ankle.
His X-ray taken that night was negative but he did receive treatment on the ankle the following day. His status for tonight is still up in the air as he is being held as a game time decision and I wouldn’t be surprised if they give him the night off to rest and recover.
Embiid is an interesting case. He’s healthy but Philadelphia is entering a back to back with Washington tonight and a huge match up with Boston tomorrow. Will Brett Brown play Embiid tonight, tomorrow, or both? He stated prior to the start of the season that Joel wouldn’t go in back to back games.
It’s important to note that Brown also said Embiid would have a minutes restriction in the teens before the season started. The lowest amount of minutes he’s played in a game this season is 24.57 and is averaging just under 30 a game so who knows.
The Wizards will be shorthanded as well in tonight’s tilt as John Wall will be sidelined after injuring his left knee. He will most likely be out for another two to three weeks.
OPT (FYI I’m 8-1 on the year with Sixers picks):
Today is a two for one special!
If Embiid and Ben play the Sixers are winning tonight. The Wizards are 2-4 in their last six, Ben will be looking to bounce back and Jo-jo always plays better when he’s the main focal point.
We saw this on Monday as well when no one else on the team could really get anything going. Embiid put the team on his back and posted his 7th 30+ point game this season.
If both the young future All-Stars can’t go tonight I still think the Sixers win!
Dario needs to have a game to get himself back on track. Tonight would provide him a perfect opportunity.
He’s been fairly lackluster all season and was a -26 on Monday night.
But if Ben can’t play tonight that means we will get another start from Three-J McConnell (TJ is shooting 56.3% from beyond the arc this year). TJ and Dario play better with each other in the line-up and if McConnell gets the start I expect Dario to have himself a break out performance.
Superstars or not, the Sixers bounce back tonight. 103-100 win tonight as the team gears up for a tough road test in Boston Thursday. #HereTheyCome
