The Sixers are red hot right now and the winners of 5 straight after an impressive game in Utah Tuesday night.
It turns out that they boo in other cities besides Philadelphia.
With over four minutes left in the final quarter Jazz fans started booing and leaving the arena when their squad fell behind by 15. Though they did make a strong rally towards the end, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Embiid-less Sixers.
Dario posted a double-double and led all scorers with 25 points and 10 rebounds. JJ had another 20+ point night and helped get the Sixers to a 6-4 record.
Philadelphia now has the second best road record (4-2) in the east, only behind the conference leading Boston Celtics who are 6-1 away from home.
It’s almost becoming pointless to keep saying it but Ben had another great performance. 16 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks. He is now two assists a game away from averaging a triple double.
Only two players have ever averaged a triple double for a season. Oscar Robertson in 61-62 and Russell Westbrook last year. That’s it.
You are going to continue to hear Oscar’s name intertwined with Ben’s but we’ve heard the comparisons of LeBron and Magic as well. So, how does rookie Ben stack up to those two all timers’ rookie year performances?
Special seems to be the only word to describe Ben anymore. His talent, size, speed, handles and work ethic are going to make him one of the best this team has ever seen.
Even his attitude is ideal. After the win over the Jazz, Simmons said in an interview that the game was “his worst performance since he’s been in the league.” This town is going to LOVE this kid for years. I said in the season preview he’d flirt with a triple double almost every game. Triple doubles and Simmons are no longer just flirting, they are dating and things are getting serious.
Tonight they will go for their first 6 game winning streak since the 11-12 season when they match up with the Kings (2-8).
The Kong’s are coming off a 94-86 home win over OKC that sounds a lot more impressive than it really was. OKC shot the ball terribly only hitting 10 of their 37 three-point shots and their 33% over all field goal percentage wasn’t much better. Carmelo Anthony has found a way to destroy another franchise, shocker!
I told you earlier in the week, the Kings stink and this shouldn’t be a problem at all for Philadelphia.
Just look at these league rankings for Sacramento:
PPG: 93.8 (30th of 30. Aka stink) Off Rating: 98.1 (29th of 30. Big stink) Def Rating: 108.6 (21st of 30. Gross)
The Kings are going nowhere fast and have a roster full players that are either over the hill, under the hill or just George Hill.
Official Prediction Time (OPT):
I’m 4-0 on the season and I am looking to continue my hot streak tonight as well.
Philadelphia is going to be too much offense for this Kings team to keep up with. Sixers are currently a -6.5 for this game. Bet the mortgage.
Embiid is back and hasn’t played in almost a week, he is going to be dialed in for tonight’s affair. With only Willie Cauley-Stein and your dad’s favorite player, Zach Randolph standing in Joel’s way tonight, I’d say he’s in for a great evening. Embiid will dominate inside and out as he goes for 27 points, 12 rebounds and a pair of blocks.
When will we see the next Simmons triple double?
Simmons will cash in both points and rebounds in double figures but falls just short of assists tonight.
This game should be well in hand with six minutes left in the fourth and the Sixers will cruise to 108-96 win in Sacramento.
