The Eagles defense only managed 2 sacks but generated 7 hit on Carson Palmer and was in his face all day. For a defensive line without their best player, this was a solid performance. The Eagles certainly took advantage of this matchup.
Can they contain Larry Fitz/big plays?
Yes they can.
Larry Fitzgerald was held to 6 catches for only 51 yards.
The cardinals got their yards, but like we mentioned in the preview, It came after they were in a hole.
Open up the offense.
This was the performance I was looking for. I’ll get into the amazing quarterback play in today’s Wentz report, but as a whole, this was about as good of an offensive performance as you will see.
They hit on big plays, while still incorporating the run.
Kudos to Doug Pederson, this was his best game of the season.
“Matthew Stafford lit them up for 292 yards and 4 touchdowns in week 1.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a stat line like that for Wentz by 4:30.”
I didn't mind it at all.
Wentz was actually better than that, throwing for 304 yards with his 4 touchdowns.
QB: Full Report at 1 pm
Offensive line: B-
Defensive line: B
Special teams: A
The Coach: A
This was a fantastic performance from the coach all the way to the water boy.
Let’s start with Doug. I’m assuming we aren’t going to hear questions like “is Doug the coach of the future” on sports radio this week?
The offense clicked on Sunday and showed how potent that it can be.
Pederson has to get a lot of credit. This was an "A" performance.
3 players who were just about left for dead, all had monster games.
Torrey Smith : 3 catches 70 yards and a touchdown.
Nelson Agholor: 4 catches, 93 yards and a touchdown.
Patrick Robinson: 3 passes deflected, 5 tackles.
Agholor (SNAGholor) and Robinson have been fantastic all season and that continued on Sunday. Snagholor is now up to 3 touchdowns and 266 yards on the season.
Yes, Robinson dropped a few interceptions, but you aren't going to get a complaint from me.
You have to feel good for Torrey Smith. I had a feeling that they were going to get him involved early and they did just that. This offense needs his big play ability.
LeGarette Blount continues to look good running behind an offensive line that is getting better each week.
Defensively- Where do I even begin?
I already talked about Robinson, but as a whole this was a fantastic performance.
Vinny Curry and Chris Long really stood out to me. Hopefully Curry can start putting more performances like this together going forward. Long continues to surprise me. He was in Carson Palmers face every time he was on the field. He didn’t get to Palmer but certainly forced a few bad throws.
Jalen Mills is still learning. I am not as down on him as others will be. He is what he is. He will never be a top flight corner, but he competes.
Both the corners and safeties played their asses off.
The linebackers also played well. Nigel Bradham had his best game of the season with 8 total tackles.
The scary part about this defense is that they are missing their best player and top corner.
Special teams has to get a mention here. Kenjon Barner had 110 return yards. Who saw that coming?
Jake Elliott was perfect again with both extra points and field goals. There were A LOT of bad special teams play around the league on Sunday (Mason Crosby missed two extra points!) The Eagles have been solid all season.
While I am handing out credit, Howie Roseman has to get some for bringing in both Elliott and Barner.
This is a very GOOD football team.
They put the entire league on notice - The Philadelphia Eagles are back.
