He should have had a touchdown pass on the opening drive, but Torrey Smith was unable to come down with the catch. He couldn't have placed the ball any better, Smith has to make the play.
On their 7 play 81 yard drive, Wentz was 5/5 for 70 yards and capped it off with a 16 yard touchdown pass to Alshon Jeffery.
The Drive was a thing of beauty.
His growing rapport with Zach Ertz will only help going forward.
He pretty much did it all for the Eagles on Sunday. He again showed off his elusiveness adding 55 rushing yards which led the team.
The Interception was just bad all around. Terrible play call, worse decision. Their screen game has been very predictable so far this season and is hurting both Wentz and the team. He has to get more careful with the football going forward.
Both interceptions he has thrown have been tipped at the line of scrimmage and both were passes intended for Darren Sproles.
The Deep ball has been a concern. I still think it will come, but he has been noticeably inaccurate when throwing down the field.
Wentz rarely misses open receivers, but on 2nd and 7 from the KC 22, he missed a wide open Wendell Smallwood in the end zone. Instead he threw an incomplete pass to Zach Ertz. The Eagles settled for a field goal on that drive.
Overall I think he was pretty damn good especially for what the coaching staff is asking him to do.
His 85 attempts are tied for 3rd most in the league. Only Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott have more attempts and they were both playing from behind on Sunday.
The turnovers are much more of an issue for me than the deep ball. Quite frankly I think the “deep ball” gets overrated a bit. His accuracy in general wasn’t great yesterday, but the Chiefs have a very good defense and it’s tough to be consistently accurate when you throw the ball 46 times.
He ranks 4th in the league in passing yards with 640, tied for 3rd with 4 touchdowns, and his 89.0 rating ranks 10th among quarterbacks that have played 2 games.
